Today was the first day of Dark Con 2012. I was honored to be invited by the Dark Ones to be their Local Artist Guest and they couldn’t have been better hosts.

Dark Con is Phoenix’s Fantasy & Steampunk Convention. They are offering workshops, gaming, demos, parties and an exhibitor’s hall. If you like the Steampunk/Victorian style then they have what you are looking for. I’m afraid I may spend more than I make at this show with all the goodies available.

After the con, I was invited to the VIP party where the theme was “The Orient Express” and featured food from each city the Orient Express stopped at. The spread was delicious and the company was friendly. (Don’t let the “Dark One” persona fool ya.) Unfortunately I had to leave early to go home and help dislodge a peanut from my son’s nose. Ah, the things that go on when Madame Mum is away.

Dark Con is being held at the Mesa Marriott at 200 N. Centennial Way in Mesa, Arizona from Jan. 12-15, 2012.

I first featured this poem in 2001 in my book, “Eerie Little Bedtime Stories.” Although I kind of cringe at the artwork (since artists, like wine, get better with age) I do still enjoy the poem. I hope you do too and have a Happy Holiday of your choice.

Pop Culture Christmas Charity Event

Today is the day for the big fund raising event at Pop Culture Paradise.A huge slew of comic creators will be on hand to do sketches for $10, with proceeds going to help the Salvation Army. Join us for a good cause and pick up some original artwork. They make great Christmas presents!!

I will have some of my newest products on sale there too, including guitar pick necklaces that feature my original artwork. Starting at only $5 and small enough to be a unique stocking stuffer!
