Madame M

Madame M is a voluptuous vixen who spins a web of creepy, cutesy tales in her popular collection of books including Creepy Little Bedtime Stories, Eerie Little Bedtime Stories, and Trauma Queens/Trauma Kings. She has also illustrated such titles as Tales of the Truly Grotesque, and Bit at Large. Madame M’s current haunt is Super Vamp; a comic about a lovable, accident-prone superhero vampire.

mal-ap-ro-pos – noun – something inappropriately said or done.

What a perfect word to describe my newest line of postcards, “The Freakshow Series.” All 6 of these characters are based on famous freakshow or sideshow acts. I’ve always seen an odd beauty and romanticism to the classic freakshow, with their performers revealing themselves for who they truly are. I believe their unique qualities are much more interesting than classic perfection and have made them iconic figures through the genre. Hopefully I have done them justice and did not perform a “malapropos.”

I am pleased to say that these are FINALLY all at the printer so I will have a 6 postcard set to offer in the next week or so. The set will included:
The Two-Headed Girl: “BFF: Best Freaks Forever”
The Tattooed Lady: “WTF: Wild Tattooed Female”
The Dog-Faced Girl: “MBF: Man’s Best Friend”
The Original Geek: “OMG: Oh My Geek”
The Feejee Mermaid: “WWW: Wet & Wild Woman”
Half Man/Half Woman: “BTW: Best of Two Worlds”

Ever long to feel the cool breath of a vampire on your neck? Well, I guess technically a vampire wouldn’t be breathing on you, since they are dead and all and don’t breathe. Regardless, here is an adorable vampire just dying to get on your neck and is relatively safe to be around. He is my classic Siegfried character dressed up as the classic 1922 movie vampire, Nosferatu.

He is available in our Store Envy M-porium. He come with a rubber cord, silver bail, silver fangs charm and Nosferatu himself on a custom guitar pick for only $10!

What could be cooler than that (except maybe vampire breath)!?

Dark Con 2012

Jan 132012

Today was the first day of Dark Con 2012. I was honored to be invited by the Dark Ones to be their Local Artist Guest and they couldn’t have been better hosts.

Dark Con is Phoenix’s Fantasy & Steampunk Convention. They are offering workshops, gaming, demos, parties and an exhibitor’s hall. If you like the Steampunk/Victorian style then they have what you are looking for. I’m afraid I may spend more than I make at this show with all the goodies available.

After the con, I was invited to the VIP party where the theme was “The Orient Express” and featured food from each city the Orient Express stopped at. The spread was delicious and the company was friendly. (Don’t let the “Dark One” persona fool ya.) Unfortunately I had to leave early to go home and help dislodge a peanut from my son’s nose. Ah, the things that go on when Madame Mum is away.

Dark Con is being held at the Mesa Marriott at 200 N. Centennial Way in Mesa, Arizona from Jan. 12-15, 2012.
